The one that got away...
She was young, blonde and if I was describing a fly I'd have to say well-tied.
"Sorry if I
disturbed your fishing," she said tossing the little boat into the
water. She hopped into the boat, somewhat clumsily I thought, and began unscrewing
the cap on a sunscreen bottle. "I come here a lot to get some sun"
she said merrily. "I'm a local. What do you do?" "I'm a professional
fly fisherman," I lied. "I saw a big fish here yesterday"
she continued. Intrigued, I peered through my polarized sunglasses and studied the
spot she had pointed out. There was something there, weaving back and forth in the
reduced current. Did the "professional" catch the fish or the girl or both...
